Damn you, Apple and your brand loyalty!

I never used to care much for brands. I bought whatever was the most value for money, and paid zero attention to the logos or the inscribing. In fact, I was so clueless when it came to brands that I once wore a Doloe & Gabana shirt to school because I didn’t know about Dolce & Gabbana. Suffice to say, I was suitably embarrassed afterwards and never wore that shirt in public again. Mom, on the other hand, was equally as clueless and was all to happy to wear “that nice cotton shirt”. Ha.

A few more years went by and I was still pretty frugal with my money – I had to be, on my measly student allowance and later, my disgustingly low article salary. It’s worth mentioning that I have a fairly wealthy uncle back in China and he bought me an iPhone and an iPad – just because I was always the daughter he wished he had. That was when I got hooked. Apple products just look so…. nice. So sleek, elegant, stylish. Also freaking darn expensive.

Recently I bought myself a Macbook Pro. Even though it wasn’t the latest range it still hurt my poor bank account. It’s difficult to rationalise the purchase because the premium on the product is not directly translatable to efficiency or performance. I bought it because I have become a loyal Apple customer. I couldn’t imagine getting something else – it would almost be akin to cheating on my precious phone and iPad.

Having said that, it is quite nice to have all 3 devices sync so seamlessly with one another. I can read an article half way on my phone and pick up where I left off on my Macbook. And MacOS is just amazing. SO much better than Windows! And it works so well with the magic mouse.

It’s safe to say Apple has got me by the balls. I am now as devoted as a brainwashed religious person. I am going to have to apologise in advance to my poor bank account for future fruitless spendings. (Ironic use of the word, I know).
